CAPPELLA BRANCACCI
In the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine it is preserved one of the highest depositions of the painting of all the times: the frescos of Cappella Brancacci performed by Masolino and Masaccio and completed, after the death of this last, from Filippino Lippi. The recent restore underline the unitary of the large decorative cycle, that was conceived and performed from the first two artists in tight collaboration.
Across the twelve stages with the Original Sin and the Stories of the life of San Pietro it is illustrated the story of the salvation realized from the Church trough Pietro. Next to the high pictorial quality of the work of Masolino, the frescos reveal all the importance of Masaccio in the pertaining to perspective harshness of the stages and in the volumetric power of the figures: famous the dramatic Fuga dal Paradiso and Pagamento del Tributo. On these pages all of the Florentine artists of the fifteenth century formed themselves.
